and of those ways, i have tried nearly all of them. i have a SSHD..solid state hard drive. in those help tips, it says at the end, "may not work with...SSHD's".......

and i am finding, although a great HDD, these SSHD's are not very cooperative!

Why is a solid state drive better?
Like a memory stick, there are no moving parts to an SSD. Rather, information is stored in microchips. Conversely, a hard disk drive uses a mechanical arm with a read/write head to move around and read information from the right location on a storage platter. This difference is what makes SSD so much faster.

    and i have a hybrid
What is a solid state hybrid drive?
In computing, a hybrid drive is a logical or physical storage device that combines a fast storage medium such as NAND flash solid-state drive (SSD) with a hard diskdrive (HDD), with the intent of adding some of the speed of flash storage to the cost-effective storage capacity of traditional HDDs.

What is a SATA solid state drive?
SATA drives come in varying speeds and capacities and SSD drives come in varying capacities. Why are SSDs so much quicker than conventional SATA drives? There are no moving parts because there is no spinning disk like you would find in a SATAdrive that has to read and write data to an actual disk.

no moving parts like that fast RPM 7200 speed, and no bearings to wear out and seize up.

read above , i just posted.

and believe me, with my few years of working on these things, i have tried as much as i could, but these new SATA hybrid SSHD's are kicking MY ass....

great HDD's, super efficient and super quiet, as nothing is spinning like an old fashion IDE HDD

I'm saying I would sit there for 50 hours if I had to until I figured out a way to do it. That's why they hired me at Johns Hopkins...

i didn't know you knew what type of HDD i had?

this pc came with a SATA drive, but not an SSHD,

i'd sit to, and i do, but sleepy time, eating time, working time. then thanks to a semi-lazy bro-in-law, we have work to do around the house on the weekends, with ME doing all the heavy crap and he comes in to sweep up..>!!!!

all the shit kinda tires me out, to sit for 50 hours, and please believe me, many times i am here or at any other website, and sitting..???

i doze off........nano sleeps or micro sleeps are DANGEROUS behind a keyboard too...>!!!!!!!!!!!

My stupid OCD and the fact I had/have nothing else to do keep me working on a problem until I solve it. I'm not calling it a good thing...

If you want it wiped that bad, media mail it to me. I'll nuke it clean and send it back useful.

Or at least try to. :)

Are you worried about data theft when you dispose of the drive or trying to get more capacity with the use of a previously failed drive?

Drives are cheap. Recover what you can off the old one and then take a sledge hammer to it so that it will no longer give grief. Your data aint worth enough to pay the person's fee that could put it back together again. If it's solid state pop it in the microwave for a few lightning shots........ Then sledgehammer for the gratification.

i was reading a website that said i can get an adaptor for the HDD and use an older pc. i'd need an IDE/SATA cable, then i can do a DoD wipe of the newer drive. i do have an older pc, an XP o/s, i just haven't used it in about 2-3 years, but i may try that some day.

yes, i have at times, removed the plate form the HDD, then i have the screw bit that fits the torx screws on the HDD to remove the discs, then i bent them and stomped on them as well, done deal.

yes, HDD's are cheaper these days, it's all the stupid rhetoric we have to go thru anytime a drive fails.

which i should have added, is mainly one of the reasons why i chose a SSHD over a disk drive. (failure rate should either be lower, or nonexistent, since no bearings to wear out, or seize up)

but now, it is also a bitch to work with as i have found out, over the disk drives.

ok, another week has passed, and i still have not installed my new Segate Barracuda SSHD.

i could not do it last weekend, i was pre-occupied with something else.

but now it's muggy as all hell now. my apartment a/c hardly reaches this pc room. oh, i have large fans that can blow in cold air, but that is annoying having that air on my back.

but who knows, i may make the attempt all the same, so if i am gone for the rest of the day and Monday as well, ya'll know why it's QUIET HERE........!!!!!!!!!
